Dear Friends and Supporters,
I have devoted nearly 30 years as a peace officer to protecting the citizens of my community. Since 2006, that devotion has been to the people of Storey County. Since taking the Office of Sheriff, I have been committed to providing Storey County citizens and visitors with the highest quality of service so our communities can continue to maintain an excellent environment in which to live and raise a family.
My experiences over the course of my career and specifically the past four years have provided me sound insight as to the needs of the community. It has been my mission to build partnerships throughout the county to increase the inclusion of all communities. I believe this pursuit has enjoyed success as the outlying areas now have a strong voice at the county table, as well as Virginia City. We are providing groundbreaking services to our senior citizens that have been noticed and are now being duplicated across the state; we are more involved and active with our youth programs than we have been for years; and people know they will be treated with equality and fairness regardless of who they are.
As the old adage says, “You can’t please all the people all the time,” undoubtedly this can also be said for my administration. However the decisions that have been made are made from a business position, in what I believe is in the best interest of your tax dollars. I have cut costs and liabilities, and continue looking for ways to provide professional service in an economically sound manner. All of this has been done while evenly enforcing the law, with the judicious application of discretion.
We have built partnerships with other service providers across northern Nevada to better serve Storey County residents; I have testified at the legislature in support of citizens’ rights; we have lived by prevention and enjoyed a decrease in criminality while solving those tough cases that unfortunately still occur, seeing that justice is served; we created a citizen volunteer group across the county that is poised to respond in any emergency; and we have strengthened relationships with our local community groups.
I hold your trust and the Office of Sheriff in the highest regard, and I am committed to the continued service of our communities, with dedication and enthusiasm. I will continue to work with citizens and other public agencies to address the concerns of the communities and to protect our citizens to the best of my abilities.
I am asking for your continued support during this election season. Your comments are always welcome and I would appreciate your vote in the 2014 primary and general election.
